Young deejay eyes Grammy stage

St Thomas-based deejay, Ajauni, has his sights set on making it to the Grammys. He has been harboring this dream of his for many years.

In fact, since age 11, Ajauni has been blazing his path to greatness on the musical scene with his very first song, ‘Yolo’.

Currently, the young entertainer has put out his most popular hit, ‘Liu Kang’, a catchy tune with moves that have grown popular with dancers and lyrics that will certainly bring a jolt to dancehall.

Born Ajauni Hibbert, to Cereta Williams – a cover singer in her own right – he grew up in Duhaney Pen, St Thomas.

At 19, Ajauni says his love for music stems from the fact that his family, too, celebrates their love and talent for this art.

The young entertainer describes his love for music as ‘one tracked’, citing that he has a tunnel vision when it comes to music.

“I’m focused on my goals. Right now it's just music for me, developing my career locally and internationally and my aim is to win the Grammys awards," he said.

Ajauni describes his attempts to stay afloat and relevant in music as one that keeps him busy.

“Everyday it’s just music, traveling, to work on my craft; listening to the advise of those who are stalwarts in entertainment and keeping a sharp focus on what’s trending on social media in order to elevate or simply adjust my styles in order to please my audience," he said.

Ajauni has been on a promotional blitz to get himself ingrained into the minds and hearts of his fans.

In 2018 he broke onto the entertainment scene participating in major stage shows such as Unruly Fest and Summer Sizzle, two of the biggest stage shows in Jamaica.

He too enjoys the ratings of many top acts and has shared the stage with the likes of Intence, Iwaata, Aidonia, Govana, and fellow St Thomas-based artiste Popcaan.
