Regional artistes rally around St Vincent and the Grenadines


The flag of St Vincent and the Grenadines dominated the Caribbean's Instagram timeline tonight as people all over the region showed solidarity with their citizens.

About 20,000 citizens had o evacuated on Thursday as the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) issued a red alert as the La Soufriere volcano showed signs of an impending eruption.

Among those sending well-wishes for the island and its citizens were the region's artistes.

Some sent prayers.

"Continued prayers and safety to the families in St Vincent amidst the evacuation process. Developments where a Volcano is concerned can be unpredictable so safety is first. Prayers to all the nation's leaders and nationals that are attempting to help any way they can," said Trinidadian soca star Bunji Garlin.

"Guidance...Protection...Safety!!! Father watch over our brothers and sisters in St. Vincent!!!!!" posted Antiguan singer Ricardo Drue.

Trinidadian soca artiste Nadia Batson said she reached out to friends there.

"Just spoke to a few of my very dear friends in St Vincent.❤️ They are scared, but they are ok. We will continue to send out POSITIVE energy to our brothers and sisters in St Vincent and all neighboring islands as the evacuation process continues. The entire Caribbean is here for you!! #PrayForStVincent," she posted to Instagram.

Problem Child, who is from St Vincent, urged his countrymen to follow all protocols.

"🇻🇨 WE ARE GOING TO GET THROUGH THIS MY PEOPLE. WE ARE A BLESSED NATION ! NEVER FORGET THAT ! EVERYONE PLEASE FOLLOW ALL PROTOCOLS REGARDING THIS SITUATION . ADHERE TO ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS AND LETS GET THROUGH THIS TOGETHER . PLEASE HELP WHERE NECESSARY IF YOU’RE WILLING AND ABLE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND GOD BLESS OUR NATION," he wrote.

Skinny Fabulous, who lives in St Vincent urged his countrymen not to panic.

"Prayers be with us. Our volcano has gone into an elevated state of activities that suggest that an explosive eruption is imminent or at least highly probable. I trust that persons while being urgent, wont panic. Easier said than done I know but let's all act in accordance with all the guidelines and protocols and do so safely.We have been planning for this for weeks. We will get through this."
