Nevis hailed as a "lifesaver" for US/UK-based film production company

Variety Magazine has recognised Nevis as one of the in-demand Caribbean locations being sought out by film production companies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an article dates June 2, Nevis was touted as a "lifesaver" for film company MSR Media which is now shooting its third movie on the island so far this year.

Premier Mark Brantley who is also the Minister with responsibility for Industry in the Nevis Island Administration, welcomed the exposure for the islands blossoming film industry.

“It is phenomenal that Nevis is being mentioned in a publication such as Variety in the same breath as established film destinations such as Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. This speaks eloquently to the ongoing efforts at developing a film industry on Nevis. I again thank MSR Media and Philippe Martinez for this partnership,” he said.

Veteran filmmaker for MSR Media, Philippe Martinez and his crew started filming movies on Nevis in February 2021, completing the comedy “One Year Off” and the thriller “Assailant” under a two-picture production deal with the NIA.

MSR Media recently signed a three-year multi-film deal with the Nevis government and earlier this week began filming its third island instalment, the romantic comedy “Two Weeks in Paradise.”

Martinez has credited the excellent partnership forged with Premier Brantley and his team, the COVID-safe environment, and the warmth and hospitality of the Nevisian people for the company’s decision to set up shop on the island.
