Beres delivers memorable virtual set, Popcaan cameo stirs frenzy

The maestro Beres Hammond performed a memorable set for an online audience Sunday, the Love From A Distance virtual concert featuring a much-talked about cameo by dancehall artiste Popcaan.

Hammond was at his brilliant best as he cruised through songs such as 'Double Trouble' and 'Putting Up A Resistance' before he introduced the 'Unruly Boss'.

“Before mi even sing nutten, mi haffi say salute to a living legend…salute, love,” Popcaan declared as the band struck up the opening strains of their collaboration.

The pair performed the yet-to-be-released track 'God Is Love', showing great chemistry as they interacted. Popcaan worked every inch of the stage while Hammond was at his best, the impresario of laid back cool.

As well received as Popcaan’s brief cameo appeared to be, arguably the night’s biggest wow factor was reserved for Hammond’s first guest, Buju Banton.

The old colleagues displayed their trademark chemistry with songs such as 'I Wish', 'Falling In Love All Over Again', and 'Can You Play Some More/Pull It Up'. Banton and Hammond swapped deejaying and singing duties to tweets of sheer delight from fans online.

Hammond’s brilliant set also included a cameo from 'Queen of Reggae' Marcia Griffiths, with whom he crooned the fantastic ballad ‘Live On’.
